Anadrol, (Oxymetholone.) If ever an anabolic androgenic steroid could be given a moniker, then the one most fitting for Anadrol would be the “Incredible Hulk!” In terms of reputation, effects, and results one would be hard pressed to find a more effective (in terms of strength and size gains) or a more maligned (in terms of reputation for hepatotoxicity, virilization or endogenous testosterone suppression).
Anadrol was originally developed in 1960 as a virtual panacea for people suffering from serious anemia. It was so successful that it’s medical uses ballooned to treat multiple ailments where, weight loss, nitrogen retention, extreme muscle weakness, etc… (Think post-surgical muscle wasting syndrome and HIV.)
To be sure, Anadrol is a DHT derivative 17 Alpha Alkylated steroid that has a rightful reputation for stressing out the user’s liver and Hepta-enzymes. It can cause substantial water retention, is an absolute no no for women, greatly alters your lipid profile, suppresses your own testosterone production and may increase your blood pressure along with frequent incidences of headaches. On the other hand, Anadrol, increases appetite, has (anecdotally) allowed for weight gains approaching 20-25 pounds in 8 weeks, with strength increases in the 16-22 percent range from one cyle alone. It’s so effective as an off season bulking drug (or when there is minimal concern for bodyweight increases) that virtually no professional strength athelete will not include it at least once a year.
Studies on HIV patients and athletes alike showed that peak strength increases ended at the 19-20 week of medicinal dosage/use, but given the typical Anadrol user’s penchant for overuse without understanding it’s proper place in one’s anabolic carreer, one should not use Anadrol 50 (under a doctor’s guidance) for more than 8 weeks and absolutely not in conjunction with another 17 alpha alkylated anabolic steroid.
Weight/strength athletes frequently possess a more is better mentality, but that would categorically be a mistake with this extremely powerful drug. As a first time user one should absolutely not use more than 50 mg per day and even experienced athletes rarely go above 100 mg per day. In fact research has shown that dosages above the medically proscribed amounts rarely have a concomitant and proportional effect.
As to best time to include this extremely powerful steroid in one’s cycle, traditional thinking was to use it to “jump start” training. WRONG!!! Anadrol’s effects are so powerful that it is best to use it in mid training as it will override all other negative feedback mechanism, push through supraphysiological gains and allow you to smash all previous size and strength limits. (HULK SMASH) Please exercise restraint with this monster and remember to absolutely include an aromatase inhibitor every time this anabolic agent is part of your training.
